Pansy rare and very early trial- one of the first pieces of Moorcroft Enamels ever produced

Moorcroft Pottery acquired Kingsley Enamels on 11th August 1998, this is one of the very first trials produced in a unique colour way which never went into production.
This vase was painted with John Moorcroft overseeing it together with Elliot Hall Managing director of Moorcroft Enamels at carol Lovatt’s painting studio in Stoke on Trent. Carol Lovatt produced the famous Puffins design for Moorcroft Pottery and was tasked by Moorcroft with the project of painting all the masters for the first collection. The collaboration was sort lived by Carol Lovatt as Kingsley Enamels team of painters were able to understand the techniques required to mimic the Moorcroft style of painting quicker and easier. There were a handful of Carol Lovatt trails ever produced and this is one of the first pieces of Moorcroft Enamels to ever be produced . Moorcroft Enamels launched a new collection in 1999 and sold out their entire years production in the first few weeks of being available to retailers across the world.

Being Sold by Elliot Hall – Ex managing Director of Moorcroft Enamels
W.Moorcroft PLC acquired Elliot’s family business in 1998 which was formally known as Kingsley Enamels and the name was changed to Moorcroft Enamels and traded from 1999 – 2006. After what W.Moorcroft PLC quote “irreconcilable differences in design style between pottery and enamels a decision has been made to close the business of Moorcroft Enamels. Production will cease on the 30th April 2006” This resulted in the closure of Moorcroft Enamels making these the ultimate collectables!
Following the closure of Moorcroft Enamels Elliot Hall Enamels was established in 2006 by Elliot Kingsley Hall. With full freedom the company has gone from strength to strength and is still firmly at the forefront of Enamels design today with its team of what are reputed to be the finest free hand artist in the world.
